How to Distinguish the Quality of Fiberglass Mesh

Nov. 02, 2026

High-quality alkali-resistant mesh fabric is evaluated based on three primary criteria: alkali resistance, tensile strength, and strain at break—with alkali resistance being the most critical. If alkali resistance is poor, even a high initial tensile strength will rapidly diminish once the mesh is embedded in concrete, rendering it ineffective at preventing cracks. The alkali resistance of the mesh is primarily determined by the composition of its constituent yarns and the alkali-resistant properties of the protective coating applied to them. Unfortunately, the current market is flooded with mesh products of varying quality, with counterfeit, substandard, and inferior goods posing a serious concern.

Substandard mesh fabrics often utilize the following types of glass fiber yarns:

First, yarns produced from recycled, high-alkali glass cullet melted in clay crucibles; these yarns possess low strength and zero alkali resistance—a type of production explicitly prohibited by national regulations.

Second, yarns drawn from glass cullet in clay crucibles; these are highly brittle and feature inconsistent filament diameters, making it impossible to guarantee structural strength.

Third, yarns created by blending the aforementioned inferior types—or mixing them with high-quality yarns produced in platinum crucibles—during the twisting process, which makes it extremely difficult for manufacturers and end-users to distinguish between them.

However, the difference between high-quality and inferior mesh becomes immediately apparent upon alkali-resistance testing; substandard products consistently fail to meet the required standards. We operate a comprehensive, professional manufacturing system that encompasses the entire production chain—from glass fiber drawing and yarn spinning to weaving and heat-setting. We maintain strict, standardized quality control at every stage, from the selection of raw materials to the final manufacturing processes. Guided by the principle that "quality is the foundation of survival," we produce and supply only high-quality, alkali-resistant, national-standard fiberglass mesh. Our products have earned widespread recognition and are extensively utilized by clients and construction firms, with a distribution network that spans both domestic and international markets.
